Handle high-stakes conversations

Prepare professionals to communicate effectively when the stakes are high

Important presentations, negotiations, sensitive discussions and meetings with senior stakeholders can place very different demands on professionals than everyday communication. Training can be built around an upcoming situation, helping participants structure their message, anticipate questions and objections, explain their position clearly and adapt their language to the people involved. The aim is not to provide a script to memorise, but to develop the language and communication strategies participants need to respond effectively and confidently when the conversation does not go exactly as planned.

Case Study: Preparing for complex commercial negotiations

Context
An engineer working in an international environment needed to handle commercial discussions in English with greater confidence and precision.

The challenge
Negotiations involved sensitive issues such as price increases, lead times, minimum order quantities and changing commercial conditions. He needed to explain constraints clearly, respond to objections and negotiate solutions without losing precision.

The approach
Training used realistic negotiation scenarios based on situations from his work. We focused on presenting and justifying a position, questioning proposals, responding diplomatically to pushback and finding workable compromises.

The outcome
He developed greater confidence and flexibility in negotiation, with a broader range of language for explaining his position, handling objections and responding spontaneously during commercial discussions.
