Work confidently across cultures
Strengthen communication across international teams
Working internationally requires more than a shared language. Differences in communication style, feedback, disagreement, hierarchy and expectations can influence how colleagues interpret one another and work together. Rather than relying on cultural stereotypes or fixed rules, training explores these differences through real workplace situations and helps participants adapt their English and communication strategies to different people and contexts. The aim is to reduce avoidable misunderstandings and support clearer, more effective working relationships across cultures.
Case Study: Communicating across cultures in an HR and leadership role
Context
An experienced HR professional working at an advanced level of English wanted to develop her communication around leadership, diversity and intercultural workplace situations.
The challenge
At an advanced level, the priority was not general language improvement but greater nuance and confidence when discussing complex people-related topics and communicating across different professional and cultural perspectives.
The approach
Sessions explored realistic HR, leadership and intercultural situations, with attention to how language choices, communication styles and expectations can influence professional interactions. The training provided opportunities to discuss, challenge ideas and practise communicating nuanced positions in English.
The outcome
She became more at ease discussing HR, leadership and diversity topics in English and more confident navigating complex professional conversations in an international context.
